Talent Acquisition & Human Resources Specialist
Position Overview
The Talent Acquisition & Human Resources Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the organization's people initiatives through effective recruitment, employee engagement, compliance, onboarding, and HR operations. This position works closely with leaders, employees, educational institutions, and external partners to attract top talent and deliver a positive employee experience throughout the employment lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from workforce planning through candidate onboarding.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs using a variety of sourcing strategies.
- Partner with department leaders to understand staffing requirements and recommend effective recruiting solutions.
- Coordinate interview schedules, selection processes, and candidate communications to ensure a professional hiring experience.
- Promote the organization's employment brand through recruiting initiatives, networking opportunities, job fairs, and digital platforms.
- Maintain recruiting systems, applicant records, and hiring documentation to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
- Develop recruitment performance indicators and provide regular updates regarding hiring activity, pipeline health, and time-to-fill metrics.
- Establish and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, workforce development organizations, training programs, and external recruiting resources.
- Oversee internship and early-career hiring programs designed to support organizational workforce needs.
- Facilitate the transition of temporary workers into permanent employment opportunities when appropriate.
Candidate Experience & Onboarding
- Conduct reference verification, employment documentation review, offer communications, background-screening coordination, and other pre-employment activities.
- Prepare and deliver onboarding programs that help new employees successfully integrate into the organization.
- Coordinate orientation activities, training schedules, and new hire resources.
- Provide support to candidates and new employees throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
Human Resources Operations
- Assist with compensation research and market analysis to support competitive hiring and retention strategies.
- Support compliance efforts related to employment laws, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Contribute to required workforce reporting and maintain accurate personnel and recruiting records.
- Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding HR programs, procedures, and workplace practices.
- Collaborate with internal departments to improve HR processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and employment regulations.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three years of experience focused on talent acquisition, recruiting, or workforce planning.
- Previous experience managing end-to-end recruitment processes across multiple position types.
- Experience supporting broader Human Resources functions, including employee relations, onboarding, compliance, or compensation activities.
- Additional recruiting and HR experience is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interviewing, candidate assessment, and talent evaluation capabilities.
- Proven ability to build relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and external partners.
- Excellent written communication, proofreading, and business correspondence skills.
- Effective verbal communication and presentation abilities.
- Experience utilizing applicant tracking systems, human resource information systems, social networking platforms, and online recruiting tools.
- Strong understanding of employment practices and workplace compliance requirements.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other business technologies.
- Ability to analyze hiring trends, workforce data, and recruiting metrics.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to delivering a high-quality candidate and employee experience.
Preferred Credentials
- Professional certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential, or similar HR-related certifications.
- Experience supporting recruiting efforts in multiple business functions or high-growth environments.
